Norovirus 2012: Cases Starting to Drop

Cases of Norovirus in England and Wales have started to drop.

As British newspaper The Guardian reports, the number of confirmed cases of the virus saw a 32% decrease in the first week of January.

Norovirus, also know as the Winter Vomiting Bug, can be suffered all year round however the virus tends to have prevalence in the Winter months, the 2012-2013 Winter seeing confirmed cases being reported earlier than in previous years which followed with a record high suffering the 24-48 hour virus, 56% more cases than in previous years.

Increase: The chart above shows the 2012-13 increase in confirmed cases compared with previous years.

Whilst it's uncertain as to whether cases will continue to decrease, the news that confirmed cases have dropped will no doubt come as a huge relief to us Emetophobes who have feared falling ill with the virus since late Autumn 12'.

Norovirus Season tends to last from the last few months of each year to the Spring of the following year.
